When David and Guadalupe Najera first heard about the Amway opportunity, they saw it as a chance to draw on skills and strengths they always knew they had. “David is very charismatic. People are drawn to him,” Guadalupe said. “He knows how to communicate, and he’s driven by a desire to help people.”

Guadalupe said she had other tools that have been important in building their business. “I studied accounting and love numbers,” Guadalupe said. “I’ve used this business to apply what I learned.”

The business wasn’t just an opportunity for David and Guadalupe as individuals, but also as a family. At the time, David was working long hours in construction, limiting the time he was at home with Guadalupe and their three children. They found their marriage at a crossroads.

Whenever we have had moments of uncertainty, not knowing if we could continue, we dug deep and found that inner desire to keep going.

“We just weren’t aligned,” Guadalupe said. “He worked all the time. I was home. I saw building our Amway business as something we could do as a couple. It helped us find our way back. We were working together, showing the plan together and talking together.”

As David and Guadalupe slowly, but steadily built their business, David said they learned discipline and determination about setting goals and reaching them. “You have to have a goal,” David said. “You might have to change the plan to get there, but you don’t change the goal. Every performance year gives you a new opportunity to formulate a plan and go at it with full force.”

In 2022, David closed his construction business, and he and Guadalupe moved from their longtime home in Tennessee to Florida in order to focus on their Amway business full-time. It was a leap of faith, but he said he knew they would do whatever it took to become Diamonds.

“You have to be determined,” David said. “You have to be laser-focused on your goal until you reach it.”
