Back to TopBV (Business Volume)
A dollar figure assigned to each product. The total BV associated with your monthly sales volume is multiplied by the percent from the Performance Bonus Schedule to determine your gross Performance Bonus.
Customer
A non-IBO who is an end user of products and/or services offered through or by Amway.
Customer Volume Requirement (CVR)
In order to obtain the right to earn a Differential Bonus on downline volume during a given month, you must: a) make not less than one sale to each of 10 different customers; or b) have at least 50 PV of sales to any number of customers.
Group Orders
All orders placed within your personal group.
Group PV/BV
Includes your personal volume and volume that is passed up to you from all downline legs that are not yet qualified at 25% in the month.
Last Month PPV
The amount of personal PV you generated in the previous month.
Last Month GPV
The amount of PV that was generated within your personal group in the previous month.
Line of Sponsorship (LOS)
The structural arrangement of IBOs established by the contractual relationship that each IBO has with Amway.
New IBO
New IBOs that were registered in your business in the previous month.
Performance Bracket (%)
The percentage, or bracket, on the Performance Bonus Schedule by which you are paid each month. Your Group PV determines the Performance Bonus bracket, which is then calculated on your BV. Performance Bonus percentages range from 3% to 25%.
Personal Performance Bonus
A type of monthly performance bonus earned based on your personal PV/BV each month. It is calculated by multiplying your Performance Bonus bracket by your Personal BV.
Personal Orders
Orders placed by you for your own personal use.
Personal PV/BV
Your total sales volume which is generated by your own purchases, whether for personal use or resale, and by the purchases made by your registered customers.
Points to Next Level
The amount of PV you need to reach the next bracket of the Performance Bonus Schedule.
PV (Point Value)
A unit amount, or number of points, that is assigned to each product. The total PV associated with your group’s monthly sales volume is tracked to determine your Performance Bonus Bracket. The higher your PV, the higher the percentage (up to 25%) used in calculating your bonus each month.
Qualified Legs
The number of legs (frontline) you have that are qualified in the month at 25%.
Renewal Date
The date by which you need to renew in order to continue building your Amway business. In North America you must renew your business each year by December 31.
Ruby Bonus
When you generate at least 15,000 Ruby PV in one month you are eligible to receive a Ruby Bonus equal to 2% of your net Ruby BV for that month.
Ruby Volume
Includes Personal Volume plus Pass-Up volume from your non-25% legs. It does not include volume from any downline Platinums regardless of whether they are at 25% or not.
Seventy Percent (70%) Rule
Seventy Percent Rule: In order for an IBO to receive Performance Bonus or recognition due on all the products purchased, an average of seventy percent of the IBO’s personal Business Volume (BV) per month must come from products sold at a commercially reasonable price; if the IBO fails to meet this requirement, then such IBO may be paid that percentage of Performance Bonus measured by the amount of products that can be shown to have been actually sold, rather than the amount of products purchased, and recognized accordingly. For purposes of this Rule, a reasonable amount of products used for personal or family consumption or given out as samples can contribute to the 70% average.
Total IBOs
The total number of IBOs within a given group.
Verified Customer Sales (VCS)
Refers to either customer orders placed directly with Amway or customer orders placed through an IBO and reported as a sale. It is a good practice to report all customer sales. They must have a unique and verified mobile phone number.
Creating a Receipt
Back to TopWhen you sell products from your inventory to customers or other IBOs, it is important to create a receipt for the transaction. The Create a Receipt tool allows you to report customer sales out of inventory and earn Verified Customer Sales (VCS) credit. It also allows you to transfer PV/BV for sales to other IBOs from inventory.
If you create a receipt for an existing registered customer, the pricing will automatically default to suggested retail. If you create a receipt for a Preferred Customer, the pricing will automatically default to IBO cost. Products added to a receipt for an IBO will have the current product price by default. You have the option to set pricing by individual product, apply promotions and discounts, and apply sales tax to the receipt. Receipts can be emailed or printed upon completion.
According to the Rules of Conduct, all PV/BV transfers to other IBOs must be made in the month that the sale occurs. This allows accurate accounting of monthly volume. However, during the window of time after the end of the month when reporting such sales for the previous month is available, you will be able to select the business month on Step 1 of Create a Receipt.
You can view incoming and outgoing PV/BV transfers from receipts in the Receipt History. And you can view all Customer Sales, from both receipts and auto-captured orders within the LOS Volume Detail tab.
Bonus Payments
Back to TopBonus Payments
An IBO's Monthly Performance Bonus is broken down into two categories: Personal Performance Bonus and Differential Bonus.
- Everything that is sold oncom (except support materials and logo merchandise) has a Point Value (PV) and Business Volume (BV) assigned.
- The monthly PV/BV total is used to determine an IBO's monthly performance bonus check.
- The Group Point Value (GPV) determines the percentage at which the IBO will be paid.
- The BV amounts are multiplied by the percentage to determine the bonus amount.
- PV/BV totals start new each month and are not cumulative for monthly bonuses.
- The PV/BV Ratio is 1 PV / 3.36 BV.
What is a Personal Performance Bonus?
The IBO's Personal Performance bonus is calculated by multiplying their personal BV by the performance bonus percentage bracket, see below:

What is a Differential Bonus?
An IBO’s Differential Bonus is a bonus an IBO can earn if their performance bonus percentage is higher than their personally sponsored IBO's performance bonus percentage. The Differential Calculation uses the group BV of each of the frontline IBOs, multiplied by the Sponsor’s PV bracket percent minus the frontline’s PV bracket percent. (Differential is calculated separately for each frontline IBO.) See calculation formula below:
(Sponsor’s Performance Bonus % - Frontliner’s %) x Frontliner’s Group BV = Differential Bonus
Note: IBOs receiving a Performance Bonus on downline volume must be in compliance with Rules of Conduct, including Rule 4.13 Customer Volume. Details can be found in the Business Reference Guide.

Performance Bonuses
Back to TopThe Amway IBO Compensation Plan was designed to reward your accomplishments and growth. The Plan is comprehensive and provides for several types of monthly and annual bonuses based on performance and leadership.
Performance Bonuses
You can earn income through monthly Performance Bonuses ranging from 3% to 25% of your Business Volume. Performance Bonuses are based on sales volume and determined based on two sets of metrics:
- Point Value (also known as PV) and
- Business Volume (known as BV)
PV is a unit amount assigned to each product. The higher your PV total, the higher the percentage (up to 25%) used in calculating your bonus.
BV is a dollar figure assigned to each product. The total BV associated with your monthly sales volume is multiplied by the percentage determined by your PV total to determine your Performance Bonus.
(Both PV and BV are published and readily available for each Amway™ product and service.)
To calculate your gross Performance Bonus, add the Pass-up Volume from your frontline IBOs (those you personally registered) – both PV and BV – to your personal PV and BV, then make your calculation according to the Performance Bonus Schedule (below). However, any Performance Bonuses earned by your frontline IBOs, using the same Schedule, must be subtracted from the gross amount to arrive at your net Performance Bonus.
Performance Bonus Schedule
If Your Total Monthly PV Is: | Your Performance Bonus Is: |
7,500 or more | 25% of your BV |
6,000 | 23% |
4,000 | 21% |
2,500 | 18% |
1,500 | 15% |
1,000 | 12% |

Action Reports
Back to TopWho's New
An indicator (+) alerts the user that new IBOs or members have been added to the Who’s New list for the month that they have not yet viewed. Once the user views the “Who’s New” list, the indicator resets back to 0.
There is a difference in this Key Performance Indicator from the other “New” IBOs that show on the left side of the dashboard. A user sees an indicator on the dashboard that says +3 new, and those three new IBOs are two in-market sponsored and one internationally sponsored. The “New” indicator on the left side of the dashboard will show 2 (not 3) because that metric is not counting the internationally sponsored IBO.
Who's Close
Who’s Close tells you which downlines are a selected percentage (default set to 25%) away from the next performance level in a given period. You can change the default and adjust the percentage up or down by using the slide bar. There is a link to this report from the dashboard.
Birthdays
The report displays which IBOs have birthdays in a selected month. If there is more than one profile for the IBO, then the profile whose birthday falls on that month will be displayed.
Renewals
- Anniversary Market: These markets allow IBOs to renew on the anniversary of their business start date. For example, if you sign up on April 15, 2018 your renewal date is April 15, 2019.
- Annual Market: These markets allow IBOs to renew at the end of the year. For example, if you sign up on April 15, 2018 your renewal date is December 31, 2018.
- Renewal Period: The period the market allows you to renew before your renewal date. It may vary from 7 to 122 days depending on the market.
- Grace Period: The period the market allows you to renew after your renewal period has passed, before your business is inactivated.
- Renew by End of Month: Some markets give you until the end of the month to renew if your renewal date falls in the middle of a month. For example, if your renewal date is April 15, 2019, you have until the end of the month.
- Early Renewal: This is the span of time (Renewal Period) before your renewal date that the market will allow you to renew.
- Late Renewal: This is the span of time (Grace Period) after your renewal date that the market will still allow you to renew.
